2012 Purple Stripe Garlic Varieties
Purple Stripes are the best baking type garlic, the retain much of their flavor whether used raw or baked. They usually average around 9 cloves per bulb, and have a tight skin around each clove. Purple Stripes are also broken down into 3 sub groups, Marbled, Standard, and Glazed, but I will try to keep it simple....
Size shipped will differ with each variety. Garlic will be sold in bundles of 5 and the price reflects cost per bundle.
Siberian (Marbled purple stripe) Siberian is from Kamchatka, Russia. It was obtained by some fisherman who traded green crops to some local farmers for some root crops. This garlic is my best selling garlic at the farmer's market, it has large cloves that are easy to peel, it also has the highest allicin content of all the garlics. 5-7 cloves per bulb and stores about 5 months.
